Midsummer 2008

As per yearly tradition we had our own Midsummer celebration on Midsummer's Eve (Friday). In the past we have been only Swedes (and Andi - Swedish by marriage ; ) but this year we also invited the Parks and Jim&Luma to enjoy the celebration with us. Andi made the beautiful flowers for the kids hair - Swedish style.
Time to fix the midsummer-pole
And how many kids can fit in the froggy...

Time for food

And the traditional Strawberry-cake. How glad I am that we can get this cake from Prolific Oven!

And the traditional dancing around the pole...

We ended the evening with some guitar hero...not very midsummer-ish, but still very fun!
The following day, Midsummers Day, we went to Sveadal (the place is owned by the Swedish American Patriot League) to celebrate Midusmmer yet one more time. And some more dancing...
We met up with Wigenstams and Franssons

And to our (and everybody elses) surprise it started to rain with some thunder and lightning. That is unheard of and during the last 16 years when the celebrations have been held in Sveadal, there has never been rain. But we actually enjoyed it as the temperature dropped (started out at 40C) and it got a bit windy.

So that was our midsummer for this year. A great weekend in the company of good friends!
