Theatre outing in the city

Cynthia was the first one to take on coodinating a theatre outing this new year, 2008. The play was Speed-the-Plow by David Mamet at the American Conservatory Theatre on Geary Street in San Francisco.

The play was a satire of the shallowness of the movie business. How maybe-not-so-good-movies are made as they are what we as movie-goers want to see...and the more marginal movies are left as half-read scripts on producers desks. How people do whatever necessary to get closer to the movie-making and the big bucks..."you are who you have to be to become what you want to be"-sort of mentality.

It was an entertaining play. I did laugh and surely enjoyed it, even though it might not be one of those plays that you take with you home, think about and discuss overly much.

After the play we went to a nearby bar and had a bite to eat. As always a pleasure to sit and chat with the girls! A fun outing to the city!
