Midsummer 2009 |
|
| Time again for our yearly tradition to celebrate Midsummer with friends. Herring and salmon from IKEA, prinskorv from the German butcher, homemade meatballs (thanks Caroline) and the traditional strawberry cake (thanks Franssons)...we were not short of anything on the tradtional Swedish Midsummer table. | |

|
Here we are making the traditional flower head-wreaths. Andi has actually become our specialist and was patiently teaching the rest of us... |
|
| Time for the kiddos to eat | |
| The midsummer-pole is actually getting better and better every year... | |
| Time for adults to eat...and drink...and sing... | |
| while a movie was playing... | |
| check out all the midsummer-girls (the younger girls did not appreciate the flowers in their hair, so unfortunately no pics ) | |
| Yep, here it is, the midsummer pole. And time for some dancing...at 9.30pm... | |
The frog dance around the pole |
|
| The last guests left at 2.30am...so when Carl woke up at 7am we told him to sleep again, which he actually did after some chatting. We all woke up at 10am and had to get ourselves organized for more Midsummer-celebration. The Swedish American Patriot league has a yearly Midsummer celebration that we attend. It feels as if this celebration actually is much more Swedish than any celebrations we have had in Sweden. We usually go up a couple of families and then we always meet a bunch of other folks that we know. | |
